STEP-1. DESIGNING

Aim behind our distinguished designs is to make effortless silhouettes that are both comfortable for practicing yoga as well as stylish for a regular outdoor wear. Be it for tops, herum, stoles or for any fabric-made utility accessory required for yoga or meditation, the design process starts with us thinking about what we really want to wear/ carry right now and how can that be created with minimal wastage. We then ethically source the most beautiful and sustainable fabrics possible to bring those designs to life.

STEP-2. SOURCING OUR FABRIC

Fabrics we source are those which tick all our high quality standards and those we feel great knowing our customers are wearing not just what’s best for them but also for environment.

NATURALLY DYEING

Extracting color from nature is an ancient tradition that dates back thousands of years. Foraging for plant material is a gratifying process that connects us to the earth and our ancestors. Our dyes are all natural ones derived from various roots, bark, berries, herbs, minerals, leaves and flowers. The beauty of natural dyes is they only work on natural fibers and are completely bio-degradable and when the textile gets disposed of, it can be returned back to the landscape. All our textiles are made from 100% plant based or animal fibers including cotton, hemp, linen, silk and wool.

HANDBLOCK PRINTING - THE AJRAKH STORY

The term “Ajrakh”, is derived from “Azrak”, meaning blue in Arabic, as blue happens to be the one of the principal colors in Ajrakh printing. The highly valued and authentic Ajrakh printing is done in Kutch, India and has been part of this town’s cultural heritage for several generations. The cloth is printed on both sides by a method called resist printing. The printing is done by hand with hand carved wooden blocks and several different blocks are used to give the characteristic repeated patterning. Hand-blocking the cloth is a considerable challenge since the pattern has to synchronize perfectly with the whole of the Ajrakh as well as cover various areas against dye.

STEP-3. CRAFTING FABRIC INTO FINAL PRODUCT

When it comes to crafting we believe in the beauty of “slow craft” & “precision”, which is well reflected in our products. At the workshop, our craftsmen combine traditional skills with new innovative technologies to mold every single thread of fabric into a sustainable life choice product.
